This is a unique cookie recipe. These cookies are more for a garnish along with another dessert. You will need to create a shape out of plastic (ex: plastic placemat), any shape will do: teardrop, circle, oval, etc…These cookies are easiest made on a Silpat.
- 4 ounces unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 4 ounces powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/2 cup large egg whites (room temperature)(slightly whisked with a fork)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 ounces cake flour, sifted
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Create your cookie shape out of your plastic sheet.
- Cream together the butter and powdered sugar.
- Incorporate the egg whites, a few at a time.
- Add vanilla.
- Add flour and mix just until incorporated; do not over mix!
- Place cut out shape onto silpat.
- Spread tulie paste with spatula, flat and even within the template shape. You should be able to fit 4 tulie cookies on one cookie sheet.
- Bake at 400°F for approx 4 minutes or until there are a few light brown spots on the cookie.
- Remove cookies from oven.
- Working quickly, drape each cookie over a wide round object forming desired shape.
- Let cool.
Variation:
Chocolate Tulie Paste
Everything the same but the following ingredient changes:
- 3 ounces bread flour, instead of 4 ounces cake flour
- 1 1/4 ounces unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
