Is a meal really complete without the dinner rolls? This recipe is a little time consuming but easy to make. If you have kids they can assist you on the final stage of rolling the dough balls and assembling the cloverleaf.
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup scalded whole milk
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 1/2 -4 cups unbleached bread flour
- 2 large eggs
- Egg wash
- Brush melted butter over the inside of standard sized muffin tins.
- Scald milk and remove from heat.
- Add butter, sugar and salt. Allow to cool to lukewarm.
- Add yeast to milk mixture and add 1 cup flour, mixing until well blended.
- Add eggs and beat again until smooth.
- Add remaining flour and mix for 10 minutes. Allow dough to double in size.
- Punch down and allow to rest for 5 minutes, under a bowl.
- Cut dough into 1/2 ounces balls and place 3 balls into prepared muffin tins.
- Allow rolls to double in size, this will take about 30 minutes.
- Brush with egg wash.
- Bake @ 375°F for 15 minutes.
